It started with a video, followed by a dream, which became a passion!
Hamish Goodall has always loved riding dirt bikes. Growing up on a big farm in the North Island of New Zealand, he spent every spare minute chasing adrenaline — building tracks, climbing hills, and pushing limits.
Fast forward a few years — after moving to Perth, Australia, Hamish came across a video that changed everything.
It was of snowbikes tearing through deep powder in North America — and instantly, he knew he had to try it.
So, like any true rider chasing the next thrill, he packed up and moved to Calgary, Alberta.
After one day out on snowmobiles with friends, it was clear — they were fun, but not it. The agility, flow, and freedom were missing. So Hamish did what any rider would do — bought a KTM 450 Snowbike with a Yeti track kit (the first of many) and never looked back.
From then on, it was deep mountain terrain, high avalanche zones, and endless alpine riding across British Columbia, Alberta, and the Western USA. He completed avalanche skills training specifically for snowbiking and built a lifetime of experience exploring some of the wildest terrain in the world.
As his Canadian visa neared its end, Hamish saw a huge gap back home — New Zealand had no snowbike scene. That’s when the vision for Snowmoto NZ was born.
In February 2018, he arrived back in NZ with a 40-foot shipping container packed with bikes, track kits, and a dream to bring snowbiking to Aotearoa.
He set up in Cromwell, chasing snow and building something completely new — a snowbike experience like no other.
Today, Snowmoto NZ runs over 25 bikes across two locations, featuring the latest Kawasaki KXF 450s and top track systems from Yeti SnowMX, Mountain Top, Timbersled, ZF Sprockets, Camso, and Mototrax.
With pick-up and drop-off from Queenstown, and a range of full-day, half-day, and overnight backcountry tours, Snowmoto NZ has become the ultimate snow adventure in the Southern Hemisphere.

And now — the adventure expands beyond New Zealand!
In 2025, Hamish teamed up with Sam King — Canadian pro rider, guide, and founder of Ride the Vibe — to launch Snowmoto Canada, based in Sicamous / Revelstoke, BC, the heart of North America’s snowbike country.
Together, they’re combining Hamish’s experience building a world-class operation in NZ with Sam’s deep local knowledge and global snowbike presence. The result?
A new standard of guided snowbike adventure — where safety, performance, and pure adrenaline come together in some of the most stunning terrain on earth.
From first-timers to seasoned riders, the Snowmoto Canada team is here to share their passion, the lifestyle, and the ultimate backcountry experience.
So whether you’re in New Zealand or Canada, the dream is the same —
Snow bikes, endless snow, and the freedom to ride like never before.
